First Camping Trip

On Thursday night we decided to go camping. We went up the mountain and found out that we had to walk a mile in to the campground. It was so hard with the stroller on this bike path. We eventually made it to the campsite and it was beautiful. There was only one other older couple there so it was very peaceful. Braeden loved camping and he just got dirty and ate everything that he could find on the ground. I swore that I could hear bears all night, and I was scared of that. Ben just denied hearing everything. When we got the tent set up and the fire started we put in our tin foil dinners. Braeden finally went to sleep about 10pm, and then it started. As Ben and I were finishing our dinner and getting ready to make smores...we heard lightening and thunder. We knew there may be a chance that it would rain, but we didn't expect what was about to happen. The wind started to blow in a storm. Then Ben and I ran to put all the food in the bear box. As soon as we did that and got into the tent...the storm hit. We had put a tarp over the tent a little while earlier. It was a good thing we did. The hail started and the wind blew. It last for over an hour and Ben and I were awake the whole time. It was really scary and I just wanted to be home. We prayed that it would pass and that we wouldn't get wet or cold. We didn't. The storm passed and it calmed down. The wind blew all through the night though. I cannot describe what it was like being in the storm. Ben and I just thought of the pioneers the whole time and what they went through. It was really scary.
The next morning I got up and got out of the tent. I couldn't even tell that there was a storm. It was green and dry and beautiful. The sunrise was amazing and it was such a blast. We cooked biscuits, eggs, and bacon for breakfast and had smores after that. We got camp cleaned up and had to walk a mile back out. It was sure and adventure, but it was so fun to get out of the city and spend some time with my family.

Oh and the marshmallow picture is because I was cleaning up and trying to roast marshmallows on the coals, but I always dropped the first one. That last time around I promised Ben that I wouldn't drop it, and well...I did. Ben walked away laughing and then he picked flowers because he thought it was so funny!
