Car Crash

Well Ben got a new truck last Wednesday. He loves it and it will be really helpful when we move a lot over the next few years. Last Thursday Ben went to get the emissions tested and it failed. Well the dealer has to pay for everything to get fixed so on Friday morning we took the truck to get fixed. First of all it was a joke because I needed my key copied and it has a chip in it so the cost $75.00 to get copied. What the? Later we went back to get the car because it was done. Ben and I were going to go to Walmart after that to get some things. Well I was a little bit behind Ben. It was about 6:30 pm. So just as I pulled up to the intersection and called Ben...I saw him sideways in the intersection. He had been driving into the sun and was making a left turn. There was a little black jetta that was driving really fast and they has a head on collision. My first thought was on no...where is Ben? As I quickly found somewhere to turn around and park near the accident I saw Ben. He was okay. He kept saying he was sorry, but he has nothing to be sorry for. He was perfectly justified in what happened. That is a bad turn. He was standing outside his truck. I was in a panic and crying and praying that everything was alright. Braeden was asleep and slept through the whole thing. It was a really bad wreck. The front of the new truck was badly damaged and the man that was in the other car was lucky he is alive. He was not wearing his seatbelt and he was in a tiny car. His airbags went off and he was really upset. Naturally. It was so scary. Ben had called 911 and no one was there after 15 minutes. So I called again and told them that we needed someone to come there quickly. We were looking at the damage and waiting for the cops to come. Finally they came. They were really kinda rude about things and took forever to talk to us. We got all of the paperwork finished and now it was time to deal with the tow truck. Ben got the ticket, but the one cop let us off the hook a little bit. That was really a blessing. I was still shaking and Ben just looked pale and sick. The other man has punched his car so his hand was really sore. I looked on my GPS where the closest place was to where the crash had happened. There was one a mile away and that is where the truck was taken. We went to a little Japanese shop with this nice little man. He gave us a really good deal on fixing the car. After we got all of the paperwork done there, Ben needed to go to the hospital because he had hit his chest on the steering wheel. We went to the hospital and we were there for 5 hours. It was way past Braeden's bedtime and so it was a little hard with him. Ben has some x-rays on his chest and then a CT scan. They gave Ben some pain meds, and he was out of it. He was hilarious. He wanted to wear his hat because it was his comfort item. haha...at least he was feeling better. After all of the IV's and the pain, the doctor said that he was okay. He sent us home with a prescription for pain medication and we were on our way...at 12:30 am. It was such a long night. We are so blessed that Ben was okay and that he made it through without worse injury. Heavenly Father was watching out for us. We are not sure why this happened, but we have had many blessings come from it.

I will have to put up some more pictures of the actual crash later.

That would be so scary to drive up to the intersection and see that your husband is the one in the accident. I'm glad he is ok.

Wow, I'm so sorry that you had to go through that! I am glad Ben is okay.
It's interesting how those things can sometimes be a blessing in disguise - James got in a bad accident the month before Jem was born, and I was super stressed out about it. But we ended up getting a car that fit our family's needs much better. So I hope something good can come from this experience for your family too. Love you guys!
