Fireside

Tonight our ward Relief Society and Young Women put on a fireside. I will admit that I was not all that excited to go get all dressed up again and get Braeden dressed and sit in the chapel with him again today. When we first walked in the chapel we were all handed a name with a birth date and where they were born. When the program started the narrator announced that people would come up and tell their stories and whoever had their name in the audience would stand up and then that person who was waiting in the spirit world would go sit with them. A few read their stories and names and most of them got to get sit with the people who did their names. Then some didn't because their work hadn't been done yet. It was so sad to see the people waiting so anxious to get their work done and be with their families. The one that touched everyone (myself included) was my own family. My mom and dad got up and read their stories that they were from England and they had gotten married and had 3 kids. My dad got up and read the mom's name and she sat down, then he read 2 of the daughters names and they got to sit down. Then he looked at my 10 year old sister Danielle and said, "I guess nobody has our names." Dan said, "Pappa, you haven't read your names yet." He proceeded to say his name and he was able to sit down, but before he did he said, "I am sorry little girl, no one had your name. I am sure that they will find it soon." And then he kissed her on the forehead and gave her a hug. She then started crying real tears and then everyone else in the entire audience did the same. It was heart wrenching to see this happen. I cried and felt the Spirit more tonight than I have in a long time. I just wanted everyone I knew to be there and see this fireside. It was so touching and made me want to get going on more temple work so that little daughters don't have to be without their fathers. How terrible would that be? I got a glimpse of that tonight and it made me sick. I am so glad that I was born and raised in the covenant and that I married my husband for time and all eternity. I now want to shout if from the rooftops so that other people can have the same joy and experiences. What a special night that words cannot express.
