"Watch you Grow"

I heard this song a few weeks after Emerson was born. It just hit me so hard and I love it. Take a listen.  There aren't too many places to hear it, but you can click here and on the right side and click on watch you grow and you can hear it.

Here are the lyrics:

They say it's wasting your life
Stifling your potential
They say it's burning your time
Ruining your credentials
Such a menial job
Such an isolated post
To be known as a Mom
Could I dare to be
Dare to be the one who
Rocks a baby on her lap
Holds him while he has his nap
Wipe his scribbles off the wall
Chase his giggles down the hall
Kiss him when he skins his knee
Make him laugh, sing him to sleep
Though the world said go
I'm glad I stayed to watch you grow
"What do you do?" they ask
"How do you make a living?"
I drive a shuttle bus for
Three very busy children
Not a menial job
Just a denigrated post
To be known as a Mom
Could I dare to be
Dare to be the one who
Cheers him on at Little League
Listen as he learns to read
Play the victim best I can
When he says he's Superman
Kiss him when he's scared at night
Make him laugh, make it alright
Though the world said go
I'm glad I stayed to watch you grow
For all that I have seen
There is no other place
I would rather be
One day I'll...
Watch him as he drives away
Wish I had just one more day
Pray I trained him well enough
When he tells me he's in love
Wonder how the years flew by
Looking back, I will smile
Though the world said go
I will not regret
Not even for one day
That I stayed to watch you grow

I get so emotional when I hear this song.  I just hits me so hard.  I have boys and she sings about boys in this song.  I am so happy that I am staying to watch my boys grow.  I know that not everyone has the choice to be a stay at home mom, and that is hard.  My own mom has to work and I see how it hurts her to not be able to stay home and watch her kids grow.  I am so SO grateful that my husband works hard for our family and that I am able to stay home and share moments with my boys and have those special moments.  I am so thankful to be a mom and to have a special family and two sweet angels here on earth and one in Heaven watching over our family.  One of my New Years resolutions is to be a better mom, be more patient, and sit down and enjoy the sweet tender moments that happen everyday.
