34 Week Appointment

Today I went to my appointment to get the regular check up on the baby.  I only gained .5 pound in the last two weeks and I am okay with that.  I now have only gained 26.  I am so proud of myself for somehow not letting myself gain 50 again.  I am not sure how it happened, but I am good with it.  I don't have to lose so much after the baby is born now.  The baby is head down( I already knew this because every time he hiccups, I want to pee my pants), and he heart rate was 174 like it has been every other time.  I go to an appointment in two weeks and at the one I have to start getting checked, and I get to schedule my induction and my anesthesiologist stuff.  Then I start going every week until this little man comes. My blood pressure was fine and I am measuring right on 36cm.  Everything seems to be great with this little guy!

Me on the other hand, I am so emotional lately.  That song called "Watching You" by Rodney Atkins got me crying yesterday.  I will tell you why.  Braeden loves his daddy...he wants to do everything he does, and says and thinks.  So I have been telling Ben to watch his step and watch what he says.  Braeden and Ben are just spitting images of each other. I was listening to that song yesterday and it just hit me.  The words of that song just reminded me of my sweeties and how I see things around my house.  The part that hit me the most was this:

Just this side of bedtime later that night
Turnin' on my son's Scooby-doo night light
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees

He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
Spoke to God like he was talkin? to a friend
And I said, Son, now where'd you learn to pray like that?

That part just hit me because we pray with Braeden every night and he wants to pray just like daddy.  It is so special to me and it brings me so much joy.
Here is the entire song if you haven't heard it or you would like to read it again.

Drivin’ through town just my boy and me
With a Happy Meal in his booster seat
Knowin’ that he couldn’t have the toy ‘til his nuggets were gone.
A green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath.
His fries went a flyin’, and his orange drink covered his lap
Well, then my four year old said a four letter word
It started with “S” and I was concerned
So I said, “Son, now where’d you learn to talk like that?”

Chorus:
He said, "I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?
I’m your buckaroo, I wanna be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad?
I want to do everything you do.
So I’ve been watching you."

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and I prayed real hard
Said, “Lord, please help me help my stupid self.”
Just this side of bedtime later that night
Turnin’ on my son’s Scooby-Doo nightlight.
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees.
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
Spoke to God like he was talkin’ to a friend.
And I said, “Son, now where’d you learn to pray like that?”

Chorus:
He said, "I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?
I’m your buckaroo, I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
We like fixin’ things and holding momma’s hand
Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad?
I want to do everything you do; so I’ve been watching you"

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug.
Said, “My little bear is growin’ up.”
And he said, “But when I’m big I’ll still know what to do.”

"‘Cause I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?
I’m your buckaroo, I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
By then I’ll be strong as superman
We’ll be just alike, hey, won’t we dad
When I can do everything you do.
‘cause I’ve been watchin’ you."

What a sweet song that just hits home in my family.
